What is Dry Eye?
As many as 49 million people in the U.S. suffer from the common and widespread condition of dry eye disease.1 Those struggling with dry eye may find their quality of life may be significantly impacted by this chronic ailment, which can also cause eye pain, dry scratchy eyes, a foreign body sensation, hazy vision, or watery eyes.2If left untreated, it may possibly result in other problems with eye health. What is Beautiful Eyes?
OptiLight is a non-invasive laser treatment that targets the area just under the eyes to reduce symptoms of dry eye disease. OptiLight is the only FDA-approved IPL treatment for dry eye and treatments are gentle, safe, and backed by an excess of 20 clinical studies.
How does Beautiful Eyes Treatment for Dry Eye work?
OptiLight uses very precise pulses of IPL laser light to eliminate the blood vessels contributing to inflammation, increase the functionality of the meibomian gland, reduce the number of microorganisms around the eyes, and improve tear break-up time—or the time it takes for the first dry spot to appear on the cornea after blinking.
How Should I Prepare For OptilLight Treatment?
Before your Beautiful Eyes treatment, it’s important to prepare your skin. To do so, we request you:
- Avoid exposure to the sun and use sunscreen even while indoors for 2 weeks before your Beautiful Eyes treatment
- Avoid photosensitive medication as indicated by your physician before treatment
- Arrive for your treatment without any moisturizers or makeup
What Should I Expect During Treatment?
Beautiful Eyes IPL treatments are easy and fast. Your treatment will begin with your physician applying gel to the treatment site and placing protective shields over your eyes. As OptiLight is applied to your skin, it’s normal to experience sensations such as warm tapping. The treatment has minimal discomfort and takes roughly 15 minutes.
What Should I Expect Post Treatment?
After OptiLight treatment, temporary swelling, redness, darkening, or flaking of skin on the treatment area is normal. For optimal results and to protect the skin during healing we recommend:
- Using 30+ SPF every day
- Avoiding direct sunlight for at least 48 hours following treatment
