Sculptra®

Initially FDA approved in 2004 for AIDS patient to correct facial lipoatrophy (or facial fat loss) , Sculptra stimulates the body’s own collagen, and can result in a more natural-looking appearance than traditional fillers, reducing facial lines and wrinkles and restoring lost volume. Composed of Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) which is a synthetic product similar to absorbable sutures, Sculptra causes a gradual increase in skin thickness.

Sculptra is a long lasting collagen regeneration product, naturally filling in areas of volume loss and treatments may take 6-8 weeks to start building collagen to present a gradual but natural result. The Sculptra patient may return to normal activities post treatment. Clinical studies have shown that the enhancing effects of Sculptra can last up to two years. Results gradually become evident over the course of a few weeks. Since Sculptra’s results are temporary (up to two years), treatments have to be repeated in future years to maintain the benefit. Touch-up treatments may be required up to six times every six weeks to achieve an optimal result.
