What can I
expect during the NovaThreads® procedure?
After a thorough assessment of your face and neck, our doctor—Jeffrey Hunt, DO, RVS, RVPI—will listen to your concerns and devise an individualized treatment strategy with NovaThreads®. Your treatment plan will be designed to effectively address your needs and achieve your cosmetic goals. To begin the procedure, Dr. Hunt will cleanse and disinfect the treatment area. Next, a topical anesthetic is applied to numb the skin. Typically, patients feel minimal discomfort during the procedure. Depending on the area(s) being treated and the nature of the enhancements desired, Dr. Hunt will select the appropriate NovaThreads®. The NovaThreads® are placed one at a time through a long thin needle that carefully slides into and along the subdermal tissue. When the needle is retracted, the thread is woven back along the entry path to make a loop below the skin. Dr. Hunt then adjusts and manipulates the threads to achieve the desired look. Several NovaThreads® may be required to symmetrically sculpt the face, neck, and/or lips.
What happens after
my NovaThreads® are placed?
Once your NovaThreads® have been placed, you may notice some minor swelling or bruising, and there is minimal downtime after the procedure. The body’s natural inflammatory response initiates the production of new collagen along the threads. As healing progresses, the collagen matrix becomes more robust, holding the new position of the tissues in place. The threads gradually dissolve within the skin and should be completely resorbed around the six month mark. The results achieved with NovaThreads® may last an additional 18 to 24 months, depending on skin quality and your rate of aging. When results have faded, the NovaThreads® procedure can be repeated if desired.
