BBL™ BroadBand Light Photo Facial – Skin Pigmentation Correction
BroadBand Light Therapy
BroadBand Light (BBL™) therapy is a phenomenal new skin rejuvenation procedure that transforms red, blotchy, aging, or sun damaged skin into a radiant complexion. This non-invasive treatment uses pulses of high-intensity light (not lasers) to improve the skin’s appearance. Emitted at a variety of wavelengths, the light safely penetrates deep into the skin, stimulating collagen production, breaking down pigmentation, and eliminating blood vessels below the epidermis. Redness and age lines are reduced with the growth of new collagen and removal of damaged skin.
Our skin rejuvenation patients who undergo BroadBand Light treatments report mild discomfort. Mild redness and swelling may occur after the procedure but disappear shortly thereafter. Most benefits of skin rejuvenation with BBL™ become increasingly noticeable in the weeks following treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions
BroadBand Light has been effectively used to treat vascular lesions, rosacea, freckles, birth marks, and melasma. To achieve its fullest potential, a series of BBL™ treatments may be necessary. With each procedure, the results will become more pronounced.

BroadBand Light Treatment Applications
BroadBand Light treatment was developed to improve the skin’s appearance while requiring little or no down time for the patient. This technique is successful in treating the following skin problems:
- Flushing and dilated facial vessels
- Sun-damaged skin
- Age spots and freckles
- Irregularities in skin texture
- Large pores
- Aging skin
- Fine lines on the face
- Acne and acne scars
- Pigmented lesions
What to Expect During a BBL™ Photo Facial
During a BBL™ Photo Facial session, multiple wavelengths of light are emitted in a series of gentle pulses over a targeted area. This allows the light to penetrate through different levels of the skin to comprehensively correct abnormally dilated vessels, stimulate collagen, and reduce hyper-pigmentation.
Photo Facial skin rejuvenation treatments are typically done with 15 minutes of numbing cream, followed by a ten minute procedure. Patients may resume full activities, including return to work, as soon as the procedure is completed. The number of treatments required to achieve the full effect varies depending on the size, location, depth, and color of the cosmetic concerns. Pre and Post BBL™ Treatment Instructions
- Women who are pregnant or nursing an infant are not candidates for BBL™
- Due to photosensitivity precautions, skin rejuvenation products containing glycolic acid, retinols, or Retin-A® should be stopped two days prior to treatment.
- The less sun exposure patients have, the better their treatment will be. Patients who must be in the sun need to use a sunscreen with SPF 15 or greater protection.
- DO NOT scrub the treated area with anything abrasive for at least two days after treatment.
- Wear sunscreen daily and apply chilled aloe vera gel as needed.
- DO NOT use self-tanners for two weeks before treatment.
