Benefits of NovaThreads®

model

Skin laxity is one of the key signs of facial aging. As the skin ages, youthful skin elasticity, thickness, and volume can diminish, causing skin and the deeper tissues to droop. FDA-approved NovaThreads® provides a non-surgical method for effectively counteracting skin laxity in many areas of the face and neck. NovaThreads® is an innovative, minimally invasive treatment that uses specialized dissolvable threads to provide customizable lift where it is needed. As an additional benefit, NovaThreads® stimulates the natural production of collagen fibers for results that can last approximately 18 to 24 months.

NovaThreads® can be used to:

  • Lift and smooth jowls
  • Elevate sagging cheeks
  • Reduce creases around the mouth and nose
  • Smooth and lift skin along the neck
  • Elevate a drooping brow line

Placing NovaThreads® is a relatively simple procedure performed with topical anesthetic to numb the skin during treatment. Our Medical Director Jeffrey A. Hunt, DO is extensively trained in NovaThreads® and can create an individualized treatment plan that meets your unique needs and goals. Often, patients choose to combine NovaThreads® with injectable treatments, like BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers, to treat additional wrinkles caused by overactive muscles and reduced volume.

If you are interested in learning more about NovaThreads®, we encourage you to contact our practice to schedule a consultation with Dr. Hunt.

Tampa Bay Specialist Introduces CoolAdvantage™ for Improved CoolSculpting® Treatment

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt discusses the benefits of the new CoolAdvantage applicator for CoolSculpting.

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt of Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay explains the benefits of performing CoolSculpting® with the new CoolAdvantage™ 3-in-1 treatment applicator.

Tampa Bay, FL – ZELTIQ® Aesthetics, creator of the revolutionary body contouring system CoolSculpting®, has recently introduced its latest innovation – the CoolAdvantage™ applicator. CoolAdvantage™ reportedly enhances the efficiency of CoolSculpting®, reducing treatment time and improving patient comfort without compromising the quality of results. As an experienced CoolSculpting® practitioner, Dr. Jeffrey Hunt of the Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay is enthusiastic about the sound clinical support for CoolAdvantage™ and has successfully incorporated the new technology into use at his practice.

Compared to traditional CoolSculpting®,  the CoolAdvantage™ handpiece operates at a lower temperature and comes with three interchangeable, ergonomically-shaped applicator cups, which enables Dr. Hunt to deliver treatment in nearly half the time. In each 35-minute CoolAdvantage™ treatment session, he is able to destroy up to 23% of fat cells in treatment area(s). The speed of the CoolAdvantage™ handpiece is impressive, he says, and the fact the applicator cups were designed to conform to various contours of the body improves results and makes the process more comfortable for the patient. In clinical trials, patients are reporting up to 45% improvement in comfort compared to traditional CoolSculpting® treatments, explains Dr. Hunt.

Dr. Hunt believes CoolAdvantage™ is likely to encourage more men and women to explore CoolSculpting® for measurable reduction of stubborn pockets of fat along the abdomen, flanks (sides), inner thighs, and back. Now that CoolSculpting® can be performed in half the time, patients have the option to schedule treatments during their lunch-break if they choose, he adds.

For individuals who are considering CoolSculpting®, Dr. Hunt suggests scheduling a consultation with a trained CoolSculpting® practitioner and reviewing before-and-after photographs to get an idea of the results they may be able to achieve. He also advises that not all practices will have the option of rapid treatment with CoolAdvantage™, as the applicator is still quite new to the market.

Expert Sculptra® Injector Danny Vleggaar, MD Visits Our Practice

vleggaarVein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa was honored to host a private lecture and demonstration by prominent Sculptra® injector Danny Vleggaar, MD. Considered an expert in PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) for facial sculpting at Clinique Vert-Prè Geneve in Switzerland, Dr. Vleggaar has pioneered innovative techniques for reshaping facial contours with Sculptra® and travels around the world sharing his expertise. Dr. Hunt and our team were thrilled to get the opportunity to learn from and speak with Dr. Vleggaar firsthand about his groundbreaking work.

During his visit with our practitioners, Dr. Vleggaar focused on ideal anatomical placements of Sculptra® to accomplish a variety of aesthetic goals. In addition to adding volume, structure, balance, and lift to faces affected by aging, Dr. Vleggaar uses Sculptra® to augment the facial proportions of young women (approximately age 25 to 30) to give them a more symmetrical, attractive facial appearance. When properly placed and injected, results with Sculptra® are typically smooth, long-lasting, and natural-looking because the active ingredients stimulate the production of the skin’s own collagen after injection. As a result, Sculptra® is quickly emerging as one of the most versatile and effective dermal fillers on the market today.

When you come to Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa for treatment with Sculptra®, know that our team is familiar with the latest injection techniques and placement strategies to deliver optimal results. We invite you to view before-and-after photos of Sculptra® patients to see the results that are possible using this remarkable dermal filler.

Tampa Bay Specialist Introduces Non-Surgical KYBELLA™ Double Chin Treatment

kybella,double chin treatment,submental fat reduction,liposuction,facial contouring,dr jeffrey hunt

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt of Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay announces the addition of KYBELLA™ to his practice, a new, non-surgical injectable treatment for double chin.

Tampa Bay, FL — Submental fat, or “double chin” as it is commonly called, results from an accumulation of fatty tissue under the jaw and chin. Dr. Jeffrey Hunt, a specialist in Tampa Bay, explains that this condition can be a source of discomfort and self-consciousness for many people. Traditionally, he says, liposuction was the only cosmetic solution. However, a brand new injectable technique called KYBELLA™ is now available to help reduce excess fat in this area and improve facial contour without surgery.

KYBELLA™ is FDA-approved to reduce submental fullness (double chin) in patients aged 18 years and older. Dr. Hunt says the injectable is comprised of deoxycholic acid, a molecule that naturally occurs in the body. KYBELLA™ works by destroying fat cells in the targeted area, he explains, which can then be removed through natural metabolic processes.

At his practice, Dr. Hunt says he and his extensively trained registered nurses, Kristen Thornley, ARNP and Jamie Johnson, ARNP, perform this treatment on individuals who are dissatisfied with their appearance due to double chin. He says that in addition to addressing this condition, benefits of KYBELLA™ typically include:

  • Relatively brief downtime
  • Minimal discomfort and side effects
  • Gradual, natural looking results
  • Long-lasting outcome

Dr. Hunt states that he is excited to introduce KYBELLA™ to patients in the wider Tampa area. He says KYBELLA™ can help a broad range of individuals who wish to improve their facial contour without undergoing invasive surgery, and he advises people interested in this procedure to seek out an experienced medical professional who is extensively trained in this technique to maximize comfort, safety, and results.

Introducing KYBELLA™

kybella-woman-chinAt the Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay, we are committed to providing the most advanced treatment options available, and we are delighted to introduce KYBELLA™ as part of our comprehensive selection of non-surgical cosmetic enhancements! This minimally invasive injectable offers a revolutionary new way to address excess fatty tissue under the chin – an aesthetic concern commonly known as a “double chin.” Dr. Jeffrey Hunt, our experienced physician, and our registered nurses, Kristen Thornley, ARNP and Jamie Johnson, ARNP, will be performing this technique at our office.

Excess fat can accumulate as a result of many factors. For instance, some individuals have a genetic predisposition to store fat beneath the chin. Other people may not have the time or opportunity to exercise and eat right due to busy schedules or other difficulties. Certain medications and illnesses can also lead to area-specific weight gain. The fact is: patients of all ages and body types can experience this concern. In the past, surgical treatment was the only cosmetic option available. Today, KYBELLA™ makes it possible to melt away submental fat (fatty tissue under the chin) with minimal discomfort, little downtime, and long-lasting results.

KYBELLA™ can be performed in the comfort of our well-equipped office. Our experienced professionals will evaluate your areas of concern and discuss your cosmetic goals before developing a customized treatment plan. A series of injections will be administered to targeted regions of your chin. Afterwards, you may return home. We recommend you take a day or two off from work to rest after the procedure, or until you feel comfortable returning. Some swelling, tenderness, numbness, and bruising in the injection sites is normal; however, these effects should fade over the next few days. Gradually, your double chin should reduce in size, and you should enjoy natural-looking results and an improved facial contour.

For more information about KYBELLA™ and how this exciting technique can help you achieve your aesthetic goals, contact us today. We look forward to answering your questions or to helping you schedule a complimentary consultation.

“Brotox” Offers Men Enhanced Cosmetic Results, Reveals Tampa Skin Care Practice

Kristen Thornley, ARNP of Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa explains how tailoring BOTOX® Cosmetic to suit the anatomic needs and aesthetic goals of male patients can achieve improved results.

Tampa, FL—Men have unique needs and goals with regard to cosmetic enhancement procedures, states Kristen Thornley, ARNP, MSN, FNP, a registered nurse practitioner in Tampa. She explains that by customizing BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments, male patients can typically achieve enhanced results tailored to their more masculine features.

To optimize the benefits of BOTOX® injections for male patients, Kristen Thornley advises taking a comprehensive view of both the anatomic indicators and the cosmetic goals of the individual. Men tend to have thicker skin than women, she indicates, therefore creases often will be deeper, particularly along the forehead. Aesthetic ideals can be different too, she adds; men often request very subtle rejuvenation for two reasons: They may not want friends and coworkers to suspect they had “work done,” and maintaining some signs of aging can provide the appearance of ruggedness or character, something many individuals desire.

Kristen Thornley explains that while the desired outcome and anatomic needs may differ between men and women, the candidacy requirements usually will be the same. Typically all patients, she notes, should be over the age of 18, and they should inform the nurse injector if they are allergic to any substances. Other qualifiers may exist depending on whether BOTOX® Cosmetic or another cosmetic injectable will be used, she notes, and the nurse injector will explain what those are during the consultation.

Ultimately, Kristen Thornley encourages men considering BOTOX® Cosmetic to seek out a qualified nurse injector who is offering customized “Brotox” treatment to maximize the potential benefits and ensure the safest experience possible. Male patients deserve to have the same access to natural-looking aesthetic enhancement as women, she says, and the procedure should be personalized to suit their desired outcome.

Treating Rosacea: What Are My Options?

Cheek KissMillions of Americans suffer from the skin condition rosacea, which can negatively impact an individual’s life in a multitude of ways. If you’ve been diagnosed with rosacea, you may have tried numerous topical medications and oral medications to help ease the symptoms with little relief. While often helpful to a degree, these treatments typically cannot provide long-term results. Fortunately, our registered nurse practitioner, Kristen Thornley, offers state-of-the-art IPL (intense pulsed light) and laser skin resurfacing procedures that can minimize the severity of your flare-ups and reduce the frequency of their occurrence by treating the pathology.

IPL or Photofacials coagulate the unsightly facial blood vessels and redness treating the underlying pathology of vascularity with a laser light.

Rosacea may present with a variety of symptoms, which can range from mild redness and intermittent blushing or flushing to a more severe flare-up with painful red cysts. Most commonly located on the face, including the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin, rosacea can also appear elsewhere on the body. There is currently no cure for this condition, and the symptoms often worsen with time if left untreated.

At Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay, we treat all stages of rosacea. We offer a comprehensive selection of laser and light-based therapies, and we will develop a customized treatment plan for you based on your anatomic needs and expressed goals during your initial consultation. This plan may include one or more methods, including IPL, ResurFX®, and/or Pixel RF. One of the best aspects of using our advanced technology to address your rosacea concerns may be the potential to treat a wide variety of skin tones and types. Furthermore, these approaches also offer a cosmetic benefit, typically helping to improve your skin tone and texture while clearing the signs of rosacea.

If you have additional questions about rosacea or how to treat the condition, or if you would like to schedule a consultation with one of our specialists, please contact our office today.

Combat Sun Damage With Laser Skin Resurfacing

sun damageNicknamed the Sunshine State, Florida has an abundance of sunny weather, but the near-constant exposure to UV rays can have a damaging effect on skin, both cosmetically and medically. At our practice, we can help correct a number of unwanted skin conditions that occur due to sun damage – including age spots, wrinkles, and actinic keratosis (AK) lesions – utilizing state-of-the-art lasers and light therapies. Our innovative techniques typically offer dramatic improvement in skin tone and texture on both the face and the body, often with little to no downtime.

One of our most popular skin resurfacing treatments utilizes the ResurFX® Erbium 1565 laser. A fractional laser designed to reduce signs of early aging and treat precancerous AK lesions, ResurFX® is minimally invasive and can microscopically target affected areas while leaving healthy tissue undamaged. Some redness and swelling is common after each treatment; however, the directed application encourages rapid healing, and the result is often vibrant, more youthful-looking skin.

In addition to the ResurFX®, we offer a number of other laser skin resurfacing technologies – including Photofacial™ IPL®, CO2 Fractional laser, and Harmony® Pixel laser – that can correct hyperpigmentation, skin damage and other imperfections while stimulating new skin cell production.

For more information on the ResurFX® Erbium 1565 laser or our other laser skin resurfacing treatments, or to schedule a consultation, contact us today.

Benefits of Using Cannulas With Cosmetic Injectables

If you have ever considered dermal fillers, such as Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Voluma™ or Sculptra™, you might be wondering what can be done to avoid some common side effects that can occur after injections. Many patients experience redness or bruising after their treatments, and although these side effects generally dissipate fairly quickly, we want to do all we can to minimize this from happening in the first place. With blunt-tip cannulas (also known as microcannulas), we are able to reduce swelling, bruising, redness, and pain for our patients. These devices are flexible and able to move beneath the skin, so can also address a larger treatment area from a single injection site, reducing the amount of injection sites needed. They also cannot puncture a vessel under the skin’s surface, gliding smoothly around them avoiding potentially bruising unlike a needle. The addition of microcannulas to our practice has helped allow patients with busy lifestyles to come in for treatment on a lunch break and return to work immediately afterwards, without worrying about potential bruising or redness. Ultimately, it is clear that this incredible enhancement to the cosmetic injectables process has helped many of our patients – regardless of their schedule – to have a more comfortable and convenient experience with dermal fillers.

To schedule a consultation or to learn more about microcannulas and cosmetic injectables, please contact the Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay today.
