Tampa Bay Specialist Introduces Non-Surgical KYBELLA™ Double Chin Treatment

kybella,double chin treatment,submental fat reduction,liposuction,facial contouring,dr jeffrey hunt

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt of Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay announces the addition of KYBELLA™ to his practice, a new, non-surgical injectable treatment for double chin.

Tampa Bay, FL — Submental fat, or “double chin” as it is commonly called, results from an accumulation of fatty tissue under the jaw and chin. Dr. Jeffrey Hunt, a specialist in Tampa Bay, explains that this condition can be a source of discomfort and self-consciousness for many people. Traditionally, he says, liposuction was the only cosmetic solution. However, a brand new injectable technique called KYBELLA™ is now available to help reduce excess fat in this area and improve facial contour without surgery.

KYBELLA™ is FDA-approved to reduce submental fullness (double chin) in patients aged 18 years and older. Dr. Hunt says the injectable is comprised of deoxycholic acid, a molecule that naturally occurs in the body. KYBELLA™ works by destroying fat cells in the targeted area, he explains, which can then be removed through natural metabolic processes.

At his practice, Dr. Hunt says he and his extensively trained registered nurses, Kristen Thornley, ARNP and Jamie Johnson, ARNP, perform this treatment on individuals who are dissatisfied with their appearance due to double chin. He says that in addition to addressing this condition, benefits of KYBELLA™ typically include:

  • Relatively brief downtime
  • Minimal discomfort and side effects
  • Gradual, natural looking results
  • Long-lasting outcome

Dr. Hunt states that he is excited to introduce KYBELLA™ to patients in the wider Tampa area. He says KYBELLA™ can help a broad range of individuals who wish to improve their facial contour without undergoing invasive surgery, and he advises people interested in this procedure to seek out an experienced medical professional who is extensively trained in this technique to maximize comfort, safety, and results.

“Brotox” Offers Men Enhanced Cosmetic Results, Reveals Tampa Skin Care Practice

brotox,botox,cosmetic injectables,male facial rejuvenation,male anti aging treatment,botox for men

Kristen Thornley, ARNP of Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa explains how tailoring BOTOX® Cosmetic to suit the anatomic needs and aesthetic goals of male patients can achieve improved results.

Tampa, FL—Men have unique needs and goals with regard to cosmetic enhancement procedures, states Kristen Thornley, ARNP, MSN, FNP, a registered nurse practitioner in Tampa. She explains that by customizing BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments, male patients can typically achieve enhanced results tailored to their more masculine features.

To optimize the benefits of BOTOX® injections for male patients, Kristen Thornley advises taking a comprehensive view of both the anatomic indicators and the cosmetic goals of the individual. Men tend to have thicker skin than women, she indicates, therefore creases often will be deeper, particularly along the forehead. Aesthetic ideals can be different too, she adds; men often request very subtle rejuvenation for two reasons: They may not want friends and coworkers to suspect they had “work done,” and maintaining some signs of aging can provide the appearance of ruggedness or character, something many individuals desire.

Kristen Thornley explains that while the desired outcome and anatomic needs may differ between men and women, the candidacy requirements usually will be the same. Typically all patients, she notes, should be over the age of 18, and they should inform the nurse injector if they are allergic to any substances. Other qualifiers may exist depending on whether BOTOX® Cosmetic or another cosmetic injectable will be used, she notes, and the nurse injector will explain what those are during the consultation.

Ultimately, Kristen Thornley encourages men considering BOTOX® Cosmetic to seek out a qualified nurse injector who is offering customized “Brotox” treatment to maximize the potential benefits and ensure the safest experience possible. Male patients deserve to have the same access to natural-looking aesthetic enhancement as women, she says, and the procedure should be personalized to suit their desired outcome.

Tampa Registered Nurse Practitioner Reveals Advanced Rosacea Treatment

rosacea,IPL,laser skin resurfacing,intense pulsed light,resurfx,rosacea treatment,fractional laser

Kristen Thornley, ARNP recently discussed the potential for laser and light-based therapies to provide more significant, longer-lasting relief for patients with rosacea.

Tampa, FL—”Rosacea is a chronic facial condition that presents with facial redness, vascularity, and even papules and pustules, mimicking acne for some patients. In the U.S. it is believed that more than 14 million people are affected with Rosacea. It is usually diagnosed between ages of 30 and 50 years and although both genders are affected, it is more common in women. Rosacea is also more common in fair-skinned individuals. In our practice, we notice sun damage, a propensity to flush, and genetic predisposition are the top risk factors for Rosacea,” states Tampa Bay registered nurse practitioner Kristen Thornley, ARNP, MSN, FNP. Fortunately, she indicates that there is a multitude of innovative laser and light-based therapies that often can achieve more dramatic, longer-lasting results for many individuals. As rosacea is experienced by millions of Americans, many undiagnosed, she notes that these advanced treatment options could provide welcome relief from the discomfort and embarrassment that generally are associated with this medical concern.

Rosacea, Kristen Thornley explains, often can be recognized by the wide range of symptoms, which vary in severity from facial flushing to painful cysts. To help combat the many indicators, Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay, the skincare practice where she works, offers a comprehensive selection of rosacea treatments. “We commonly combine IPL (intense pulsed light) and skin resurfacing lasers like ResurFX® and Pixel RF, because most patients have texture changes, sun damage, and vascularity.” In addition to helping minimize redness and reduce the frequency of flare-ups, these approaches can also improve skin tone and texture for a noticeable cosmetic benefit. She indicates that each patient who schedules a consultation will receive a customized treatment plan that is designed to address his or her unique needs and goals.

Ultimately, Kristen Thornley believes laser and light-based technology can help to alleviate many of the most bothersome symptoms of rosacea, which often worsen over time without treatment. Furthermore, she says, “All patients with rosacea are good candidates for IPL.” And with precautionary measures, even individuals with sensitive skin or darker tones can be helped, she notes.

About Kristen Thornley, ARNP, MSN, FNP

Kristen Thornley received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Florida, graduating with honors. She has earned the prestigious Black Diamond injector status from Allergan after completing over 10,000 BOTOX® Cosmetic injections. Furthermore, she is certified in bio-identical hormone pellet therapy and has undergone extensive training in laser technology. She is a member of several esteemed medical organizations, including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Tampa Specialist Details Benefits of Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

dr hunt, bio identical hormone replacement therapy, bhrt, signs of hormone imbalance, benefits of bhrt

Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunt describes common symptoms caused by hormone imbalance and discusses how bio-identical pellet therapy offers a simple, non-synthetic treatment method.

Tampa, FL—Common indicators of hormone imbalance are often dismissed as the result of overwork or stress, explains specialist and Medical Director of Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunt. However, he says symptoms such as sleeplessness, irritability, and headaches actually may be due to decreasing levels of estrogen, testosterone, and other hormones. Though typically related to the natural process of aging, he notes that hormone fluctuations can occur in individuals as young as 30. Fortunately, he indicates that Bio-Identical Pellet Therapy, an all-natural treatment method, can prove beneficial for patients experiencing these and other unwanted effects.

To help individuals who are wondering if they may be experiencing effects caused by decreasing hormone levels, Dr. Hunt recently detailed some of the prevailing symptoms associated with this condition, stating that being able to recognize the signs of a hormone imbalance can encourage patients to seek treatment. Common indicators may include:

  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • Sleeplessness
  • Depression
  • Weight gain
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings
  • Irritability
  • Decreased sexual desire
  • Memory loss

Dr. Hunt says that some indicators may seem like the consequence of strain or exhaustion, but professional examination may reveal these effects to be the result of hormone imbalance. In addition to causing discomfort, he also notes that these symptoms can also negatively impact both personal and professional relationships, and he advises individuals who think they may have a hormone imbalance to seek a consultation with a board-certified physician.

At his practice, Dr. Hunt says Joy Drexler, a registered nurse with expertise in BHRT, performs the treatment, which can be an excellent method for many patients experiencing hormone fluctuations. Derived from non-synthetic plant sources and designed to mimic naturally produced hormones, the benefits of Bio-Identical Pellet Therapy potentially include increased libido, mental clarity, sleep patterns, and energy, as well as reduced fatigue, body fat, irritability, depression, and mood swings. Unlike complicated regimens with pills or topical treatments, the Tampa specialist says Hormone Pellet Therapy utilizes small, sub-dermal pellets to safely deliver a balanced infusion of hormones to the body, helping to stabilize chemical levels.

Ultimately, Dr. Hunt says he hopes to improve patient wellbeing by bringing attention to the effects of hormone imbalance and offering an effective, all-natural treatment method. By providing a helpful resource, he believes more individuals will be able to recognize the signs and seek assistance from a qualified physician.

Tampa Specialist Reveals Alternative Treatment for TMJ Disorder

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt, BOTOX, cosmetic injectable, treating TMJ symptoms with BOTOX

Tampa Specialist Reveals Alternative Treatment for TMJ Disorder

Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunt administers BOTOX® injections for patients experiencing TMJ Disorder to reduce movement of contributing muscles and alleviate discomfort.

Tampa, FL—According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, TMJ Disorder may affect as many as 10 million people in the United States alone. The condition, a result of dysfunctional movement of the temporomandibular joint and the surrounding jaw muscles, can often cause grinding, clenching, discomfort, and headaches. Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunt, a specialist and Medical Director of Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay, explains that while there is no cure for TMJ Disorder, there are a number of innovative treatments that can help to alleviate the pain associated with this complaint. BOTOX® injections, he states, can be one the of the best and longest-lasting methods available.

Traditionally used to reduce fine lines on the face, BOTOX® injections have a multitude of purposes, explains Dr. Hunt. The cosmetic injectable is particularly effective in the treatment of TMJ Disorder, he says, because it addresses the origin of the problems—overactive muscles—rather than simply alleviating the symptoms. The Tampa specialist says BOTOX® Cosmetic formula contains a neurotoxin designed to weaken muscles and limit the strength and regularity of contractions, which are often directly responsible for the clenching, grinding, and popping common to TMJ Disorder.

To relieve TMJ Disorder symptoms with BOTOX® injections, Dr. Hunt clarifies that a thorough examination must be made of the patient’s jaw. Only a highly skilled injector should ever utilize BOTOX® injections for this purpose, he emphasizes. At his practice, he says he will customize a treatment plan based on the individual’s unique anatomical needs and list of symptoms, and then administer the formula into targeted locations around the head and jaw. Results typically will begin to take effect in a few days, he notes, and they will often last up to four months. Unlike some other popular solutions for TMJ Disorder, he says BOTOX® injections do not require the use of an oral accessory to be worn overnight. Furthermore, he indicates that long-term relief is possible with routine treatment.

Ultimately, Dr. Hunt wishes to help patients ease the pain, discomfort, and other unwanted symptoms of TMJ Disorder with a treatment that suits the busy lives and high expectations of many individuals today. He says BOTOX® injections can typically provide a great deal of relief with little to no downtime, long-lasting results, and no inconvenient devices.

Specialist in Tampa Utilizes Multiple Approaches for Treating Sun Damage

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt, laser skin resurfacing, ResurFX, Levulan Kerastick, BLU-U, sun damage treatments, vein treatment

Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunt offers a comprehensive selection of laser and light treatments, including the ResurFX® laser and the Levulan® Kerastick® and BLU-U® system, for the treatment of sun damage.

Tampa, FL—According to current estimates, Tampa, FL experiences over 244 days of sunshine every year. Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunt, a specialist and Medical Director of Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay, notes that exposure to so much UV radiation can have a damaging effect on skin, potentially increasing the risk for skin cancer. To combat the adverse cosmetic and health effects of excess sun exposure, Dr. Hunt recommends his patients consider laser skin resurfacing treatments and innovative light therapies suited to their individual concerns.

At his practice, Dr. Hunt says he often favors two particularly effective techniques for reducing the appearance of unwanted skin conditions and treating precancerous actinic keratosis (AK) lesions: The ResurFX® fractional laser and the Levulan® Kerastick® and BLU-U® with IPL three-step system.

In a recent blog post titled, “ResurFX® Vs. Levulan® Kerastick®: What’s the Best Laser Treatment for Me?,” Dr. Hunt discusses the differences between the two popular techniques to assist patients researching treatment for sun damage. While each method offers unique benefits, Dr. Hunt often suggests combining approaches to achieve the greatest opportunity for success. Since Levulan® will only treat AKs and pre-cancer cells but will not resurface wrinkles, texture changes, sun damage, or acne scars, he says a resurfacing laser may be an excellent adjunct. Both procedures work synergistically, he adds, depending on the patient’s problem or concern.

In a subsequent blog post titled, “Combat Sun Damage With Laser Skin Resurfacing,” the Tampa specialist emphasizes the multifaceted benefits of the ResurFX® laser. He says the minimally-invasive erbium fractional laser can target areas of concern without damaging nearby healthy tissue. As a result, he explains, patients often experience better results and less downtime. In addition to the ResurFX® laser, Dr. Hunt also offers numerous other laser skin resurfacing options for aesthetic enhancement.

Ultimately, Dr. Hunt wishes to offer his patients a comprehensive selection of treatment options for sun damage. Since Floridians are subject to high levels of UV exposure, he urges residents to be proactive in their skin care, utilizing laser skin resurfacing and light therapies as necessary to protect and improve their overall skin condition.

Tampa Bay Specialist Offers Two-Part Treatment For Pre-Cancerous Actinic Keratosis

Levulan Kerastick, BLU-U, photodynamic therapy, Dr. Hunt

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt provides non-surgical Levulan® Kerastick® and BLU-U® treatments to remove actinic keratosis skin lesions, which can potentially develop into skin cancer. This is also called PDT or Photodynamic Therapy.

Tampa Bay, FL — According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, more than 58 million Americans are affected by actinic keratosis (AK). Jeffrey Hunt, DO, warns patients these unsightly lesions can often advance to skin cancer. Since there is no way to know which AK cells will become cancerous, he says, it is important for anyone experiencing this skin condition to seek treatment. At his practice, Dr. Hunt offers a two-step method using Levulan® Kerastick® topical solution and BLU-U® light therapy to help remove AK lesions before they evolve into squamous cell carcinoma, the second most common form of skin cancer.

In a recent blog post titled, “PDT – Photodynamic Therapy,” Dr. Hunt lists the numerous advantages associated with this combination treatment. Residents of Florida, he notes, are exposed to sunshine most of the year, which can increase their risk of developing AK. He says the Levulan® Kerastick® and BLU-U® treatment is non-invasive and typically effective on qualified patients. Other benefits include:

  • No prescriptions to fill
  • Minimal downtime
  • Non-surgical
  • Often no scarring
  • Entire treatment can be completed in under 2 hours

In a subsequent blog post titled, “What to Expect From Levulan® Kerastick® and BLU-U® Treatments,” Dr. Hunt details the patient experience. The Tampa Bay specialist first applies the Levulan® Kerastick® topical solution and allows the medication to permeate the area for one to two hours. Patients are then exposed to the BLU-U® photodynamic therapy for approximately 20-30 minutes. Together, Dr. Hunt says, this combination technique is designed to destroy AK cells in the targeted treatment area. Due to resulting photosensitivity, he cautions patients to avoid sunlight and bright lights for 48 hours after the initial session. He adds that this procedure, referred to as PDT, Photodynamic Therapy, can also help patients with cystic acne by partially destroying the sebaceous gland and can be an alternative to oral and topical antibiotics.

Dr. Hunt says there can be some mild side effects, mainly redness, which may last 7-10 days; however, he notes that most patients see significant cosmetic improvement as these effects diminish.

Ultimately, Dr. Hunt says patients experiencing AK symptoms should consider receiving Levulan® Kerastick® and BLU-U® therapy to help reduce the risk of developing skin cancer in the future.

Specialist in Tampa Offers New Non-Surgical Treatment for Excessive Sweating

hyperhidrosis, treatment for excessive sweating, Alma SweatX, BOTOX, How Can I Prevent Excessive Sweating?, Dr. Hunt, vein treatment

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt says Alma SweatX treatments offered at his Tampa cosmetic center can help dramatically reduce the effects of hyperhidrosis and osmidrosis.

Tampa, FL — The effects of hyperhidrosis and osmidrosis can be extremely embarrassing and detrimental to one’s self-confidence, says Dr. Jeffrey Hunt of the Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay. For this reason, his cosmetic enhancement center, which also specializes in vein treatments, now offers an innovative new treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), known as Alma SweatX. In addition to hyperhidrosis, Dr. Hunt says the procedure also addresses osmidrosis, a condition causing sweat to have an abnormally strong and unpleasant odor.

According to Dr. Hunt, currently one of the most popular ways to treat hyperhidrosis is through the use of BOTOX® injections. He notes the injections can be very effective; however, the treatment needs to be repeated after the effects begin to wear off over time. In a recent blog post titled, “How Can I Prevent Excessive Sweating?,” Dr. Hunt explains that Alma SweatX can offer a more enduring solution for patients suffering from hyperhidrosis or osmidrosis, without the need for surgery or injections. “Using radiofrequency (RF) technology,” he says, “Alma SweatX can specifically target the overactive glands that cause the effects of hyperhidrosis and osmidrosis without harming the surrounding, healthy tissue.”

According to Dr. Hunt, Alma SweatX is designed to target the eccrine glands and/or apocrine glands, both of which produce sweat. Whereas overactive eccrine glands are responsible for excessive sweating, overactive apocrine glands can lead to an unpleasant and intense odor when sweat from the glands reacts with bacteria on the surface of the skin. Dr. Hunt says RF technology used by Alma SweatX can specifically target these glands, causing the water molecules inside to rapidly rotate, leading to selective heating. He explains this method helps to reduce the amount of sweat being produced by the glands.

Dr. Hunt says most patients treated at his Tampa Bay cosmetic enhancement practice have been able to see improvements after their initial treatment. He notes that he typically recommends for patients to return for follow-up treatments in order to attain the best possible results, explaining that most patients are able to achieve significant sweat reduction after four, 20-minute weekly treatment sessions. Patients should be able to return to their daily activities immediately after the treatment, and generally experience little to no pain, says Dr. Hunt. He believes Alma SweatX can be an excellent solution for individuals who suffer from hyperhidrosis or osmidrosis, stating, “This new, minimally invasive treatment is the best procedure we have found to treat this emotionally important condition.”

Innovative Fat Reduction Technique Developed by Tampa Cosmetic Enhancement Practitioner

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt, fat reduction, CoolSculpting

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt of the Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay recently developed a new, non-surgical method for reducing excess fat deposits by combining CoolSculpting® and acoustic wave therapy.

Tampa, FL — Reduction of excess fat can be difficult for many individuals, including those who lead healthy lifestyles, according to Dr. Jeffrey Hunt of the Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay. In an effort to address this concern, Dr. Hunt recently conducted a study to track the results of combining two fat reduction techniques – Cryolipolisis and Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT). The results of the study showed stunning improvements compared to patients who had CoolSculpting® (Cryolipolisis) without AWT. Dr. Hunt says he combined the two treatments in an attempt to decrease the time needed to generate results, as well as to test the possibility that it may yield an increase in total fat reduction. Following the first month of the study, Dr. Hunt noted that patients who received AWT after a CoolSculpting® procedure saw a decrease in fat that occurred twice as fast as the fat reduction seen in his control subjects.

To conduct the study, Dr. Hunt followed the progress of patients receiving a CoolSculpting® procedure. Half of the patients in the study were given traditional massage following Cryolipolisis treatment with Coolsculpting®, while the other half were given AWT treatment immediately following the Cryolipolisis treatment. The patients who received AWT were also asked to return for four consecutive weekly treatments of AWT. Each week during the study, all patients included in the study were weighed. Using ultrasound, the patients were also
measured to document the reduction in thickness of the fat layer in the treatment area.

Well-known for his extensive training and research in the field of medical aesthetics, Dr. Hunt is considered by many to be a pioneer in the treatment of venous disease. His work includes conducting FDA clinical trials to bring Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), hair removal, and resurfacing lasers to the United States. By conducting his study on Cryolipolisis and AWT, which was recently published in Prime Journal Europe, Dr. Hunt says he hopes to improve the process and results, to the benefit of doctors and patients alike. According to Dr. Hunt, the study is now being used by other physicians as protocol for this procedure. He says he will continue to seek other opportunities to advance technologies and techniques in the medical aesthetics field.

Florida Cosmetic Practice Is One Of First 20 In U.S. To Offer New Non-Surgical Fat Reduction Technique

Tampa skin care, Vanquish, fat reduction, Dr. Jeffrey Hunt

Dr. Jeffrey Hunt will be one of the first medical aesthetics practitioners in the United States to offer Vanquish: a fat reduction technique that removes fat without physical contact.

Tampa, FL – Dr. Jeffrey Hunt and his team of Tampa skin care professionals offer their patients expertise in vein treatments and non-surgical cosmetic treatments. The Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay’s latest acquisition is a system called Vanquish: one of the newest methods of non-surgical fat reduction available in the United States.

Dr. Hunt’s practice is one of the first 20 in the U.S. to receive the Vanquish device, and they will be the first practice to offer the procedure in Tampa. After first hearing about Vanquish nearly a year ago in discussions with Vanquish manufacturer BTL Aesthetics, Dr. Hunt says he is pleased to be part of the first group of cosmetic enhancement professionals in the nation to use the new fat reduction system. “We have been on the cutting edge of many new technologies and have been instrumental in improving treatment protocols,” says Dr. Hunt. In a recent blog post on his practice’s website, Dr. Hunt goes into more detail regarding Vanquish’s fat-reducing capabilities.

The Vanquish system, recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, was originally developed in the Czech Republic and is able to target fat cells utilizing selective radio-frequency (RF) electromagnetic energy. According to Dr. Hunt, Vanquish can “reduce pockets of fat in patients’ entire abdomen area, including the flanks (love handles), in just one treatment” without ever making physical contact with the patient’s body. Instead, “the thermal energy delivered by the device is absorbed by the body,” causing the targeted fat cells to be destroyed and then removed from the body through its natural processes.

Vanquish is able to cover a much larger treatment area compared to other non-surgical fat reduction techniques. Dr. Hunt says it is designed to be safe, well-tolerated, and to have zero downtime. The Vanquish system produces a sensation similar to a heating pad and never touches the patient’s skin. Typically with four 30-minute sessions spread over the course of one month, patients can lose one dress or pant size the following month—though Dr. Hunt says the initial results of the procedure can usually be seen after the first or second session. According to Dr. Hunt, BTL Aesthetics is currently working on more treatment heads for the Vanquish system to optimize results on other body areas of concern such as the thighs and arms.

Though Dr. Hunt is consistently looking toward the next innovation in the field and is proud to be one of the first practitioners in the country to offer Vanquish treatments, he says that one of his practice’s biggest advantages is having multiple technology platforms available for fat reduction. With a wider array of techniques at hand, Dr. Hunt says he is able to achieve optimal customized results for many of his fat reduction patients.
