Rhinoplasty Procedure
Rhinoplasty can improve a number of conditions associated with the nose. This procedure has the ability to:
- Increase or decrease nose size
- Change the shape of the nostrils
- Reduce the nasal bridge or tip
- Correct nasal deformities
- Improve breathing
- Correct a deviated septum
The procedure typically begins with incisions made either outside or inside the nostrils. One of the benefits of rhinoplasty is that outside incisions can be made along the natural creases of the nose, making scarring virtually invisible. Dr. Fakhre will separate the bone and cartilage of the nose, and reshape them to meet your ultimate goals. The incisions are then closed and a temporary splint will help the nose retain its new shape. The nose may need to be packed with gauze for a short period of time to control bleeding and stabilize the septum. The procedure usually takes from one to two hours to complete and can be performed as an outpatient.

Rhinoplasty Recovery
Some swelling and bruising can be expected after rhinoplasty. Patients will need to keep the head elevated for about a day after surgery. Medication can be prescribed to control pain and discomfort. The nasal splint and stitches are typically removed about a week or two after rhinoplasty. Most patients are able to resume normal daily activities about one week after the procedure.
