Eyelid Surgery Procedure
The benefits of eyelid surgery are numerous, and can significantly improve the appearance of the areas in both the upper and lower eyelid regions. Depending on your specific goals, eyelid surgery can be performed on the upper or lower lids, or both.
Upper Eyelids
Upper eyelid surgery is designed to remove excess skin that may be affecting your vision, or is giving you a tired appearance. Dr. Fakhre will eliminate the excess and lift the remaining skin, smoothing it out for a more refreshed aesthetic look. Incisions are made in the crease of the upper lid, making any visible scarring from the procedure very hard to detect. Upper eyelid surgery can be performed as an outpatient and generally takes about one to three hours to complete.

Lower Eyelids
Lower eyelid surgery primarily addresses puffiness and bagginess under the eyes. Dr. Fakhre will make a small incision under the lower eyelashes. Then he will remove excess fat, skin, and muscle, and reshape the remaining skin to form a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Lower eyelid surgery often takes only about one to three hours to complete and can be performed on an outpatient basis.
A combination of both upper and lower eyelid surgery will typically take longer to complete; however, a combination procedure can still be performed as an outpatient.

Eyelid Surgery Recovery
Dr. Fakhre will likely lubricate your eyes with a special ointment after the eyelid surgery procedure. Some degree of swelling and bruising can be expected for the first couple of weeks after surgery; however, any pain and discomfort can be managed with medication. Some light sensitivity, tearing, and temporary blurry or double vision can also be expected in the days following eyelid surgery. Although strenuous activities should be avoided for two to three weeks after the procedure, normal daily activities can typically be resumed a few days after eyelid surgery.
