Other Skin Disorders
One of the most common skin conditions, acne occurs when sebaceous glands become overactive and produce excess oil, causing follicles to become plugged. These plugged follicles can then become inflamed, causing pimples, nodules and cysts. Although acne is not harmful to health and will usually subside over time, it can have a long-term, negative effect on a person’s confidence and self-esteem. Our practice offers various methods of preventing and reducing acne, including topical treatments such as Obagi CLENZIderm M.D.™, lasers, photodynamic therapy, Blu-U® Light, and chemical peels.
Age spots are brownish patches that appear on the skin as a person ages, resulting from either sun damage or genetics. Also known as liver spots, these patches resemble large freckles and usually appear on the face, neck, hands, feet, or legs. Although they are not harmful, many people wish to have them removed for cosmetic reasons. Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunt can safely eliminate these marks using Photofacial™, ResurFX®, or Harmony® Pixel resurfacing treatments.

Birth marks are areas of pigmented skin that are present at birth or that appear shortly after birth. These permanent marks vary in color and form, and can be classified as either pigmented or vascular. Although most birth marks are harmless, some may pose serious problems and require treatment. Dr. Jeffrey A. Hunt can diagnose and treat these markings using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL®) Therapy, PhotoDerm™ or Yag laser therapy.
Characterized by facial redness and swelling, rosacea is a skin disorder problem that can appear at any age and usually afflicts adults with fair skin. Rosacea develops slowly at first, but worsens over time and rarely resolves on its own. At The Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay, we have achieved excellent results treating rosacea and facial vessels with intense pulsed light Photofacials™ and have done over 6,000 treatments to date with facial skin treatments such as laser resurfacing.

Sun damage is the single biggest contributor to facial aging. Long-term exposure to the sun can lead to uneven pigmentation, deep wrinkles, leathery skin, and even skin cancer. Any of these conditions can produce signs of premature aging on the skin, even on surprisingly young patients. There are a wide variety of advanced skin care treatments available for sun damage, ranging from prescription skin care products such as Obagi® to the latest skin resurfacing lasers (ResurFX®, Harmony® Pixel) in combination with IPL® (intense pulsed light).
Lines and wrinkles appear where skin naturally folds and creases, becoming more and more permanent as time goes on. A number of factors, including sun exposure, smoking, and extreme dieting, can hasten this effect. The Vein & Cosmetic Center of Tampa Bay can counter facial wrinkles with BOTOX® Cosmetic and the latest temporary, semi-permanent cosmetic fillers.
